LION LAGUNA / MOTION STUDY 001

This is not a mascot.
This is the movie star.

One real dog holds the frame while three impossible worlds bend around him. No dialogue. No tricks. Just presence big enough for the screen.

01 / THE FILM

What if holiness
isn’t a performance?

THE QUESTION
THAT STARTS EVERYTHING

Lion was never formally taught to sit.
That may be the beginning of the theology.

The documentary follows the real people turning one dog’s ordinary presence into DOG IS GOD: an album, a film, and a provocative movement about love without performance.

Three impossible worlds become mirrors for memory, silence, inherited belief, and the human need to explain everything. Lion would still prefer to go outside.

Can a provocative idea remain an honest practice once it becomes an album, a film, merchandise, and a movement—or will the attempt to spread it destroy the presence that inspired it?

THIS IS A HYBRID DOCUMENTARY.

The people, dog, music, and making are real. Ada, the witnesses, their evidence, and the impossible worlds are clearly labeled original fiction.

The Afterlight Archive

In a city where memories can be taken apart and repaired, Mara finds a dog carrying a moment that belongs to no one. For the first time, restoring the past may mean leaving it broken.

04 / THE ONLY REAL CHARACTER

His name is Lion.
He is a dog.

That might be the least mysterious
thing about him.

Lion Laguna is the real black French bulldog at the center of this invented universe. The worlds can change. The people can disagree. His ears, his stubbornness, and his thoroughly ordinary priorities stay.

No speeches. No secret human voice.
Just a dog, doing dog things, while everybody else tries to explain the universe.

PRODUCTION LANGUAGE · BEING BUILT NOW
I.

The image

Painterly AI-assisted animation. Documentary framing. Amber glass, deep water, salt and rust. A camera that stays long enough for the strange to become familiar.

II.

The sound

Close acoustic textures. A city of electronic noise. Then the relief of silence. Paws, breath, a collar, a door. The score follows the world—not the other way around.

III.

The feeling

Love without possession. Memory without ownership. A laugh in the middle of a very serious mystery. Nobody has to be rescued into someone else’s story.

BEFORE YOU CROSS OVER

A few things
worth knowing.

Is this a documentary or a fictional film?

Both, with a clear boundary. The dog, creators, music, production process, and movement are documented as real. Ada, Mara, Neri, Oren, their testimony, and the three impossible worlds are original fiction used as visual essays—not presented as evidence or fact.

What is real?

Lion Laguna, the people making the work, DOG IS GOD, The Holy Howlers, and the attempt to turn presence into a lived practice. Lion’s journeys through the impossible worlds belong to the fictional layer.

Does Lion talk?

Not in this film. He is a dog, not a wisecracking narrator. People make speeches; Lion scratches at the door. Earlier talking-Lion concepts remain in the separate archive and are not the film’s canon.

How will it look and sound?

The creative direction is adult, painterly AI-assisted animation: recognizable behavior, impossible environments, documentary framing and a tactile, cinematic image. The score moves through intimate acoustic textures, electronic noise and purposeful silence. This describes the direction, not completed footage or released recordings.

Can I watch the film or a trailer?

The film is in production. The opening on this site is an interactive work-in-progress sequence from the production, with new footage and worlds added as they are built. There is no announced release date yet.

What happened to The Yard and The Holy Howlers?

They are preserved in the Original Yard archive, along with the earlier pages, artwork and game. The archive is a separate creative chapter, not evidence or characters from this film.
